Communities' Empowerment in the Fields of Heritage - Egypt
Body
This project was funded by the Cultural Protection Fund (CPF) and implemented through a cooperation PNT, the International National Trusts Organization (INTO), and Carey Tourism.

Participants from Egypt and Jordan received specialized online training that focused on the sustainable development and protection of cultural heritage sites, including assessment, safeguards, interpretation, and management. As part of the program, participants were supported to devise proposals for interventions that aim to contribute to the sustainable development and protection of cultural heritage sites, these pilot projects were implemented with the aim of disseminating the acquired knowledge to a wider range of trainees in Egypt and Jordan.

The Egyptian participants have implemented a pilot project under the title of “Explore Bayt al-Razzaz (BAR) through the eyes of the children of Bab al-Wazir”. The project focused on bonding with the local community through fun activities and sharing of food as well as sourcing out catering from local ladies, raising the local children awareness of Bayt Al-Razzaz, and indirectly engaging children in developing a product “tote bags” that could be sold and dedicate part of their revenue to sponsor future tours.

Heritage for the Generations of Yemen 2021 - 2022
Body
The project is part of implementing regional support vision set by Her Highness, President of Petra National Trust, Her Royal Highness Princess Dana Firas, to be a key priority for the next stage, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic.

The crises and threats to cultural heritage in the region have been exacerbated, and the resources for its protection have diminished, and the need for conservation, education, and development has increased.

In recognition of the rich and diverse heritage of Yemen, widely considered to be a cradle to the oldest and most ancient civilizations under threat from conflict and natural causes, PNT in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Yemen, launched a project that invests in the generations of Yemen and builds the capabilities of its teachers, designed to build a new generation of heritage ambassadors and protectors.

This project is implemented with the generous support of the International Alliance for the Protection of Heritage in Conflict Areas (ALIPH) in Geneva.

The project will produce an extracurricular educational program for children in Yemen that simulates Petra National Trust educational program. It contains more than 30 chapters on several topics, including the Yemeni cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, natural heritage, ways and methods of protection, environment and sustainability, world heritage, modern skills, and other topics.

The project holds an intensive training program for Yemeni teachers and educational supervisors in Jordan to provide them with the skills and experiences that will enable them to implement the program through best practices and international standards in interactive learning and by using modern means.

The program will be implemented in ten locations in Aden, which will form a base for its launch throughout the Republic of Yemen.

This comes in a fruitful partnership with the Ministry of Education in the Republic of Yemen, whose cadres played a pivotal coordinating role that enabled the Petra National Trust team to put the project into implementation.

PNT leads the “Heritage for the Generations of Yemen” project, as the first project in the region to develop systematic cultural education programs. PNT will build on this project and the experience gained to extend its cultural heritage education programs to other regions and countries.
